Business Need

California Consumer Information System wanted to transform their telephone information line into an online nursing home guide. Their goal was to provide an easy-to-use web site to help those who had to place a loved one in a nursing home.

Strategy & Solution

In order to create a straightforward interface for a non-technical audience, Sliced Bread Design:

• Created a step-by-step search that walked the user through the nursing home selection process, allowing the user to narrow the search intuitively
• Provided an easy way to compare key features of selected nursing homes
• Created informative and easy-to-read graphs displaying detailed numeric information for each home, complete with strategic icons and color to highlight important data
• Constructed an inviting visual design with soothing colors and hand-drawn illustrations that created a warm, appealing place for people under emotional stress
