Introducing the Concept of the “Information Center”
So that users could understand the health of a property or investment over a period of time, the Intuit Property Management applications provided complex inquiry screens that allowed users to generate customized reports.
To simplify and streamline this task, we redesigned the inquiry functionality across all applications to adopt a familiar, list-oriented design that focused on browsing instead of searching.
Applying the model of an “Information Center” allowed for the following improvements:
- Simple interface for accessing information which presents objects in a browsable list format with status information at a glance
- Innovative, custom dropdown menus for filters in the main table to fit the needs of the data
- Reduced number of steps needed to generate multiple reports, which better supported the user’s desire to browse for in-depth information for multiple objects
- Flexible frames which could easily be resized
